Family Fun At Kidtropolis!

It wasn’t a planned type of day. We forgot that Omera had a day off from school that day, and it dawned on me that morning. I wish I had looked at my calendar before I made lunch and snacks the night before.
But alas, it was a free day, with 2 active kids and nothing to do. My normal routine would be to send off Haytham to my mothers house from 11-4 so that I can work or do house chores- or a momma combo of both. But today with Omera home, it seemed kinda like a special day.
We thought of some things we could do.
1. Crafting? ….nah didn’t seem quite right for today.
2. Play outside? …under a scorching sun, nope.
3. Go to a park?… still outside, so nope.
4. Watch TV all day?…a big no!
Nothing really seemed to be right. We have a handful of indoor play centers that we normally routine at, but for today, we did a google search for something else.
We found it in Richmond. A city about 25 minutes away from us, that we frequent on the weekends. But today we would be trying Kidtropolis, an amazing indoor play center like no other we had ever been to.
What’s so special about this play center? Well for one, it has a plane inside. Yes, a plane, you read that right.
I mean who would not want to be in that! It also boasts a fire hall, a police station, pet store, gas station and car garage, hospital, performance stage- OMG, why did we not know of this place before!?
I loved it, so did Areeb, but what about the kids?
Yes, I think the smiles say it all! This place really gets the imagination going. It’s not just like any other play center where you’re just climbing and burning energy- which don’t get me wrong, is really good too.
But this kind of pretend play time got the kids thinking, acting out the parts and figuring out story lines to go with their play. It was actually stimulating their brains and getting their little minds and hands working. And it was great for us adults too because we played along.
My kids loved the slide the most of course, because, it’s a triple rainbow giant slide! Who wouldn’t love that right.
We also had a quick snack there, just to try it out. Got ourselves a bag of fries and some PNE style baked donuts with cinnamon and sugar dusted on top- YUMMY.
A few things to know.
Gotta Wear Socks!
Like most play centers, Kidtropolis has some rules. One of those rules is that all children have to wear socks- no shoes inside. The parents are allowed to wear shoes, unless you plan on to play along, then please remove your shoes.
Hours:
Make sure you check out their open and close times, the food area closes about 30 minutes before closing time. They also have different times for summer and winter hours. During the summer, they open on Mondays!

Parking:
Is a bit tricky. They have their own parking slots but if they are full on weekends you can use their business neighbors parking. There is also parking on the residential areas to the side, and parking at the Olympic Oval which they can reimburse, so make sure you keep the receipt.
Birthdays @ Kidtropolis:
They have great comprehensive birthday packages for different times and can accommodate from 8 to 28 kids for online booking. If you have a bigger crowd than that, then make sure to contact them directly for dates and pricing.

Overall:
You’re going to have a great time! The imagination that flourishes from this kind of pretend play is amazing! It’s a Montessori style of learning and can have lasting brain developing benefits. So for sure check them out!
